This weekend Ferguson, MO Celebrates Michael Brown Jr.

Today marks the 5th Anniversary for the death of Michael Brown Jr., in Ferguson, MO.  The act that not only brought awareness to the deeply rooted, systemic racism that plagues the city of St. Louis—but also to Change, and Community.  Even though many hearts were bleeding, Mike Brown was the force that caused them to open.

From the outside looking in many assume that Ferguson was simply full of unrest—a city full of thugs, as media outlets would abhorrently validate, and portray.  Yet, five years later Ferguson stands—as we believe—stronger than ever.  The fire lit from Ferguson has yet to die down, and each year the Celebration of Mike Brown brings awareness to the burning ambers those have forgotten.

After the Death of Mike Brown his Parents, took the pain and channeled it into invoking change and sparking much needed conversations within our Communities.  Today, marks the death of Mike Brown Jr., shot to death in Ferguson, MO by former Officer Darren Wilson—and like every year a Celebration is amongst us.  This Celebration is not of death—it is of the new lives that were born during the Unrest in Ferguson the young Children who are being raised by those who were active in voicing the injustices.  It is a Celebration of the Community, who has banned together and organized to create effective change at the systematic level—such as electing former Representative Bruce Franks, and newly appointed Prosecutor Wesley Bell.  It is a Celebration of a life, a young black male, son, brother, cousin—a narrative we now control, no longer allowing the media outlets to do so.  It is also a Celebration of many other strides that we have made as a people to combat a broken system across the Nation.

Wesley Bell, and Bruce Franks showing love in the Community.

On today, we take a moment of silence for the Young fallen soldier, that was so viciously ripped away from us.  We honor him as he was, and not as mainstream media decides.  For the entire weekend a Celebration for Mike Brown will be occurring in Ferguson presented by, The Michael Brown Chosen for Change Foundation.  Here are the details:
